All dash lights come on with no key when connecting 12v battery

I replaced two failed cells in the hybrid battery (my 3 time doing this) but when I connected the 12v battery all the dash lights came on as if the smart key was inserted but it was not. The car could shift into N even without the key. With the key inserted it is the same. Also the power button was unresponsive and the key would not come out unless I disconected the 12v battery. I charged the battery, no change. I completely disconnected the hybrid battery and no change. Connect the 12v battery and all dash lights come on with no key. I can't find anything when I search. Any help would be appreciated.

 

In case anyone else needs the answer to this, my good friend William suggested I press and hold the start button for at least 10 seconds and the system will turn off. After that the system seemed to be reset and everything worked normally.
