Help..dreaded pull over check hybrid system

    Hello everyone. I would appreciate some help. I have a 2013 prius c and last week I had to jump in and go and didn't get a block when the pull over check hybrid system came on. Had to drive a few blocks so continued and it shut off. Had code p2118. That day when I got in it was very hot out, 110, and the ac was on when I turned it on, put it into drive quickly because I was late to go a few blocks away. Checked fuses and Had it towed to a shop that were no help at all. They reset everything and it drove around fine last couple days. Today I drove it around about 20 minutes staying close to home, went in a store about 20 min, decided to drive it 10 miles on freeway to see if anything pops up, turned on ac for about 8 of those miles, and as soon as I put it in park it came back on again. Unplugged everything to reset it and drove it home. I used to work on my own cars, but not newer cars and never one with a hybrid system. If anyone could help with ideas to check and in what order and how, would be greatly appreciated.

    P2118 is not a diagnostic code I am familiar with, haven't noticed anyone else report it on a Prius c anyway.

    At first glance the code appears to report an issue with the throttle plate, the servomotor that moves it or the wiring connecting that motor to the rest of the car.

    If you feel like getting back in DIY style, you can get a cheap subscription to the factory repair manual to work the diagnostic yourself.

    If not, I'd say take it to more-or-less any shop because this is not a hybrid problem. This is an electronic throttle control/fuel injection problem, could happen on more or less any post-2005 Asian car. You just need a better shop where they do actual diagnostics related to the fault at hand.
