1-Which do you prefer, and why?

2-How the heck do you change between the two?

My Prime originally had % on the screen from the dealer. When I was finally able to get my connected devices and digital key all set up and squared away it somehow changed to Miles! I have messed with settings every way I think is possible and nothing about this. ‍♂️

    Prob something real silly..

I remember when I drove it home from the dealership, it was on percentage. It's now showing as miles remaining and I prefer it that way due to driving around town and knowing what I have left. As I remember, in EV mode, it did not switch to HV mode until the battery showed 30% remaining. Now I usually drive in Auto EV/HV mode until I hit the freeway, then manually switch to HV mode until I get into the city. I don't recall how I changed it from % to miles.

Prefer SOC in % - Is not a guess, and not dependant on how I drive,
where range remaining is a guess based on my average driving

(I record the percent figure at the end of the day and use it in my calculations and averages.

While driving, range would be what it will be, knowing I have 10% or possibly 4 miles left would not change how I drive.)

Strange - EV to HV mode happens when "SOC 1%" becomes "SOC ----%" in the display - which the stupid Toyota App will misrepresent as "Charge 30% remaining"

I think the 1% was the EV mode remaining? I think the 30% is accurate has it needs some charge to operate in HV mode.

There's another thread kicking around. The app is simply not accurate. The reserve is about 3kwh or 30% but it's spread between a top and bottom. And certainly going from empty/30 to full is not 7.2kwh as the app reports. I wish it was!

I switched the EV to % because with only 50 miles of range, things like cooling off a hot car or whether you're driving up or down a hill can drastically change the remaining range. I'd rather just see the percentage than have weirdness like the range deplete by 5 miles when I only drove 1 mile because the car was parked in the sun and the AC is going strong.

I had to sit in a parking garage and wait for a family members 1 hr appt to get done today. It was too warm to sit there with the windows down so I just kept it in EV and ran the AC at around 71-72 or so (I think I have the HVAC set to Eco in the settings) with the 12” screen off and headlights off and it still used up 3-4 miles of range (didn’t track exact miles but still seemed reasonable for an hr of of hangin out with the AC going.

I’m still tossed up about Miles vs % but am thinking I might try % again as it seems to a be a little
More precise 100 units of measure vs 30-40ish (Miles).

I am charging it up right now for a drive down to the NJ Shore tomm. Contemplating just running ev till it dies and see how long it lasts (Not taking the freeway, Combo of 55 mph & back 1&2 lane roads).

I have change it to HV/Charge mode on the freeway but only a couple times just to play around with it. I think it reduces your MPG a bit though.

I have a 4,000 mile road trip coming up soon so I'm sure I'll be using it.

I used the hv/charge on a 2hr run it keeps the vitals up but a small price in mpg
Where are you heading on this road trip looking forward to your feedback
Still learning this prime mechanically inclined but electronically not so much

I prefer distance remaining. I find it to be very accurate most of the time. On a warm day, my full plug in charge is 60 or 61 km. I set the trip meter and it registers the kms driven in accordance with EV range remaining. The only exception to this was when I was charging a battery while driving. Of course, the range was reduced.

We drove down to southern Utah and visited Zion NP and Bryce NP. From there, drove to Monument Valley which borders Arizona and Utah. On to Cortez Colorado to see the Mesa Verde ruins. Also stopped by Four Corners on the way. From there we drove to Moab and visited Arches NP. Took an impromptu side trip to Denver where I grew up. I didn't use the HV charge mode all that much on the trip. The EV only mode hovered around 25 miles for the entire trip and got as high as 32 miles on it's own.

I only plugged in once while in Monument Valley. I did attempt to use public charging in Burley ID but none of the four charging stations at the hotel were operable. They said they were ready to use, but you have to download an app and deposit $$ first. When plugging in and attempting to start charging, you got a message that it was unavailable. Basically a ripoff.
