I have the DICE unit for my iPod Nano in my 2005 Prius. With some words of ancouragement from Bill, I found the install simple. I love it! It works great in my 2005 Prius with navigation and 6 disc in-dash JBL system with Bluetooth. The only thing that I wish it had would be variable volume, bass, midrange, & treble settings for the output of the DICE unit itself when playing the iPod.

I called them today and they answered right away. They'll probably swap yours after you go through a couple of reset options with Tech Support. Unfortunately, they don't cross-ship RMAs.

But if they haven't formally uncovered the cause of the problem, a replacement may not do any good. Last I (and others) checked they were not yet sure of the cause.

They believe that there are two problems which may or may not be related. Sometimes, swapping the units solves the problems, sometimes it doesn't.

I'll give them a call tomorrow and see what they want to do. I hate to make them incur the expense of shipping units back and forth when it may or may not help, but if that's what they want to do, so be it. :)

This may have been previously addressed here, and I apologize in advance if it has, but I can't find the answer in the thread.

For the operation of the DICE with a 2006 Prius how do you navigate between playlists?

    Thanks in advance!

I am thinking about throwing in the towel. The unit they originally sent sort of worked, but had a buzz on loud passages, and then starting showing more symptoms of the failure to navigate or show text through MDF over time. The replacement unit they sent corrected the buzzing, but was even worse for MDF display and navigation. I need to get an RMA for the second unit, and either get a refund or wait until it is fully debugged.

I called them today, and Jessie (x121) indicated they have a new tech who will be rewriting the firmware from scratch since they can't seem to figure out what's wrong with it. In the mean time, she is more than willing to swap units for anybody wanting to try. She also had no problem doing a cross-ship, despite what another poster indicated.

Assuming it's the same with a 2005, you press D2 (Disk 2) and use the buttons on the steering wheel. D1 allows you to navigate within a playlist.

I purchased the DICE kit for my 06 Prius, but I can't seem to find any prius specific instructions on how to install it. I keep reading on this board that it's pretty easy, but I'm not sure where to start with the dash unit. I have the full package with GPS/camera and so on.

Can anybody point me in the right direction?

    Thanks!

Like xraynano I too have had to replaced my DICE unit and still have identical issues more.

I just sent a followup message to Dennison and await thier reply about getting a working unit that displays properly as well as provides clear sound.

I've had 3 units which are all bad. Adam (one of their reps) claims they'll have a new revision finished by Friday and told me to call back then and he'll send me the latest revision - or refund my money.

I used the instructions at http://priuschat.com/index.php?act=Attach&...ost&id=5767 to install my DICE. It's actually for the VAIS AIC-100i, but it's the same procedure.

Thanks! That's what I needed. I wasn't even sure where to start.

Seems like there are a high number of people that have had bad luck with the DICE unit. Is there anything better out there, that works specifically with the Prius? Seems like this shouldn't be THAT hard to get right. Now I'm just hoping that mine works after waiting so long to get it.

VAIS also sells a unit, but it costs more. You can see it at http://www.vaistech.com/. The installation is the same. The big problem was that the 2006+ has enhanced graphics, compared to the 2004-2005.

I just spoke to someone at DICE who offered to call me when they have a new version of the firmware on Wed (1/17), to place an order at that time.

If cost was not an issue, which one is better based on user experiences? The VAIS one looks pretty impressive too.

Also, what problems are related to the enhanced graphics?

OK, I just read through all 12 pages of posts and I'm tired... -_-

I would like to know if anyone has been able to install the Dice with new Firmware. I realized it was only just finished yesterday but I'm kind of anxious to hear if the problems have been fixed.

I would really like to see this work and that is one of my biggest complaints with the Prius. This should have been one of the options when I bought my 2007. Toyota can do it for the Scions but can't do it in one of their most "techie" cars?

To add more hope to this product, I was at CES this week and stopped by the DICE booth. I asked about the problems with the '06 and '07 Prius. I was told that new firmware would be released next week and that I should place an order then. I guess I will give it a go next week.

    Regards, Peter

Anyone knows what is fixed in the new firmware? Also, how can the current owner to obtain the new firmware?

    Regards,

    Ernest
