    Are the PCV valves in the diagram backwards? The threaded portion of the valve is in the block, no?

    Frankenbuilt this while the car was down for HV battery reconditioning this past week. It’s based on the larger OCC Victorine posted about above and is a replacement to the smaller Mishimoto version that was previously installed.

    This iteration seeks to address 2 issues. Firstly, I reside in SW Ontario, Canada where the winter produces large volumes of condensed shmoo. Secondly, on reading about flow resistance to some of these setups, the goal was to reduce resistance to airflow by increasing the filtered surface area. On cleaning the previous model last summer, I found the disc filter to be clogged enough to restrict cleaning fluids from passing and it’s cleaned on a regular basis.

    Minor mods were required to enlarge the diameter to allow for the threaded pipe nipple and create a hole in the baffle to accommodate the same. If I remember, I’ll update this winter to see how it goes.

    I admittedly have no way at the moment to test for a performance increase due to less flow restriction. If the unit behaves, I’m just going to put it down to a feel good win. A proper test would have been to document pressures before and after modding.

    When installing it, the clearances were very tight and I fabricated the brackets from steel stock obtained from Crappy Tire. I had to swap the straight pipe fitting from the drain to the outlet and bend the elbow towards 45 degrees. All threaded fittings were sealed with a high temperature thread sealant.

    It’s not light so I added a second support bracket. I admit I don’t totally love the location, I’d rather have it low, but I need accessibility to drain it almost weekly in the winter.
