... lots of misinformation here at the pre-auth-chat, apologizing over EV curb weight for which to tear asunder President Eisenhower's vision of America's once proud infrastructure.

The thing about EVs, they carry their weight all the time. Elon Musk's stripped down Model III weighs more, than my top-of-the-line, fully loaded L.L. Bean 4WD Subaru station wagon. Musk's Model X Plaid weighs what my vintage AW11 and my Gen II Prius do, combined:

    5,390 lbs – Model X Plaid
    5,185 lbs – Model X Long Range
    4,766 lbs – Model S Plaid
    4,561 lbs – Model S Long Range
    4,416 lbs – Model Y Long Range/Performance
    4,065 lbs – Model 3 Long Range/Performance
3,582 lbs – Model 3 Standard Range Plus
2,723 lbs Gen. 1 Tesla Roadster

Keep in mind, of Musk's Mk I Tesla Roadster EV aberration was, of a re-badged 4-pot Lotus Elise, curb weight under 1,800 pounds:

    Lotus Elise - Wikipedia

Put a Toyota drive-train in a Gen I Tesla, you've got an 1800 pound canyon carver, which goes twice as far, with half the tire wear, worth 4 times more!

Were we to gut any EV offering, adapt an advanced technology drive-train, we could expect a weight saving, at least a half ton. Were we to do a typical '80s Jaguar XJS mod, gut Musk's Model X, drop in a push-rod Corvette drive-train? Betcha coffee and doughnuts what you'd wind up with would be, vehicle weight less than what a contemporary, poorly designed overweight Corvette weighs.

In the driver's group I host here in Southern California our apothegm boasts, "... brakes and tires are everything; lack thereof, there is no substitution, for weight" -

hybrids still burn gas. they may slow climate change if everyone drove them, but we will reach the same inevitable end.
bev's can and will be fueled by renewables. ultimately, it's too late to save the planet, and people who hate bev's usually have an ulterior motive, because science cannot explain their actions or opinions.

    Careful!
Don't let the sciencologists hear you say that!

I like to pick on EVangelists as much as the next guy but of all the many ways that BEVs fall short of being a real-world substitute for a PHEV or proper automobile you cannot fault them for being heavier than a willowy bean shaped 5-pax, FWD people hauler.
Even Subies haven't been adult-sized since the last time that we had a President that wasn't suffering from age-related cognitive decline!

I've owned and loved an MX-5 and to me there are only a hand full of things that are more fun to play with than a properly balanced, RWD, three pedal car.
    HOWEVER (comma!!!)
The Lotus Elise WAS a 2-door, 2 seat, rag-topped roadster capable of hauling 2 people and one computer bag.
They're the automotive equivalent of a European soccer player.
Expensive AF for what you get.
Requires lots of maintenance and pampering.
AT BEST, slightly underpowered. (Less BHP than a Prius.)
    Lots of drama.
Somewhat entertaining on a manicured pitch (sometimes)
    Useless on real-world streets.

Hence the use if the word "WAS"
One famous example was used as a 'test slug' for a falcon rocket and it had to be extensively modified even for that humble purpose.
