I recently imported a 2015 plug in to Ireland. It has these clear stickers on the windscreen that are for the toll tag system in Japan. Has anyone got experience of removing these and the associated wiring? I think that they are hooked into a little Carmate device that is on the dash too.

Weird request but can I see the rest of the dash? I’m trying to determine if those are actually toll tags.

We just had a discussion about something like this similar to this very similar picture to this on this list within the last year somebody imported a car from Asia China in Japan have the same thing I want to say it might even been in the last 6 months and I don't remember what the resolve was I mean the stuff comes off you know dismounts I don't think I'd want to rip all the wiring out if it runs under the headliner and stuff probably cut it something remove the components tuck the wires under the headliner call of the day get the toll box off the dash if that's the arrangement If not I don't know what to tell you leave it there and pretend to be a taxi I don't know.

Maybe learn more about the system before you remove it. It seems odd that there's 4 different sensors/signal senders. This might be a more elaborate system than just toll stickers and once you understand the electronics better you might be able to repurpose it.

No I think this is country based business that's not needed where he is and we just had a guy on here with the same issue not too long ago I'm almost positive and I believe he removed the stuff because well it's not needed where he lives and I'm not sure it can be repurposed or if it could I wonder for what other countries tolls and bridge admissions maybe

    Cheers for the replies folks.
There is a Carmate sq900 device on the dash which is an alarm system linked to the ODB port so I don’t think that it is anything to do with the stickers on the windows
There is a little ETC slot to the right of the steering wheel.
I asked ChatGPT and it said that these stickers are fitting in the factory given the popularity of the systems over there.
No use to me here in Ireland. I just have a simple little tag stuck to the windscreen from the express lane at tolls.
I need to get the displays translated so I might see if the electrician doing that can remove the toll system too. IMG_1290.jpg

Yep all that should be able to be removed unplugged plugs tucked away probably no need to even cut anything I'm not sure about the thing in the dash lot I'm guessing there's something that was in that square hole before a plate maybe it's even in the car somewhere in the glove box who knows.

Thanks! I’ll see if I can push the plugs back into the headlining and peel the stickers off. If I could remove the the plug from the back of the ETC unit too, that should stop the audio warning on start up. I’ll put the unit back in so I don’t have a whole in the dash.
Thanks for all the input folks

An update. I was able to remove the plugs from the back of the card reader which stopped the ‘ETC’ warning on start up. Glue connected the stickers and the connectors so I slice through that with a razor blade. Pushed the connectors up into the headlining and scrapped the stickers off. Windscreen is much tidier now.
