I rode a Prius V taxi cab, known as “Plus”, that had a nice retractable shade embedded inside the rear doors.

I wonder if it is possible to get this accessory from somewhere.

I think these can be added pretty easily and high heat areas and things some cars have these fitted but many times they're not from the factory they're from the aftermarket and the given country there's all kinds of cool things for Audis and whatnot Mercedes and what have you I'm sure the Chinese have got this market pretty well covered You just have to do a bit of searching more than likely your only talking about unrolling what 14 in or so of shade not rolls up into almost nothing by looking at what I see in the picture it looks like the track assembly and the roll of the dotted material all pushes in and one go maybe has 3M strips to stick it to the very edge of the window frame or something along those lines and then there are companies that make curtains with tracks and everything that could go in a Prius I think maybe some people here might have them installed in the Middle East they're real popular

That may be the longest sentence I've ever seen on a car forum. :)

The pull up window shades on the Prius V/a/+ in other world markets were original equipment as was privacy glass aft of the front side windows. North America wasn't offered numerous factory installed features that were available in other regions, e.g. integrated rear entertainment system. Toyota chose to classify the Prius v as a passenger car in North America. If Toyota had classified it as an MPV (multipurpose vehicle) as in other markets, then privacy glass would have been allowed.

Adding the rear side window shades would require acquiring European or other market OEM door panels and all the components of the roll up shades. A problem with doing that is that replacement parts would be difficult to obtain in the event of component damage or failure. An alternative would be simply to have aftermarket window tint installed. We had the legal maximum aftermarket tint (35% in Kansas) professionally installed to the largest of the side windows immediately after purchasing the Prius v in 2012. We didn't bother to tint the small side windows and I no longer have back "windshields" tinted due to problems that have occurred after tinting over defroster wires.
