Hi Priuschat, I am unfortunately in the position of junking my 2007 prius, and the junker, who apparently specializes in Japanese cars, told me that the OEM catalytic converter I replaced last year is not as high worth as the older catalytic converters due to less precious metals being used in manufacturing. I can't seem to find info online confirming this. Does anyone in this community have any idea? Thank you!

yes, toyota has found a way to reduce the metals in each generation. this is not reflected in the price of a new oem replacement, but it is in the recycling market.
i have not read that an oem replacement is worth less than the original, but it is possible that toyotas replacements have less than the original. can you call some recyclers for offers?
maybe sell it on ebay, california has a shortage.
