This 2007 Prius has 50k original miles, two owners (my mother and me) and is mechanically sound except that the hybrid battery is probably shot.

My mother had the car from 2007 to 2017 when she gave it to me. She drove to work, about a mile from her house, and that was about it, so it had very few miles. Then we only drive it around town hence the low miles. Clean title.

Mechanically everything is in good shape. Engine runs great, AC comes on cold right away, touch screen is fine, door locks and windows all work. As far as I know, everything is original except 12v battery, brakes and fan belt. It easily passed safety and emissions inspection in December.

The front passenger side bumper has a dent, and the body has some minor dings here and there. Also, we live in the woods so we have to periodically put some peppermint in the cabin air filter to keep mice from nesting; there may be some mouse droppings. Interior has some stains as you’d expect from an older car, but it’s in surprisingly good shape. Never been smoked in.

All four tires were new as of Dec 2020. Two working key fobs. It was garage kept from 2007 to 2017, and then mostly in a carport. We never drove it in snow, so very little salt exposure. Regular oil changes at the dealership with full synthetic.

Here’s the deal with the hybrid battery:
The following warning lights stay on: Check engine, VSC, Hybrid Warning, yellow brake warning. The cooling fan stays on. The battery indicator on the MFD kept going up and down from empty to full, much faster than seemed realistic. It felt kind of sluggish on the drive, and as I was turning onto my road, it kind of stopped responding. I'd step on the gas and it wouldn't accelerate at all. I was able to reverse and go forward around my driveway a bit. Though when I'd put it in park, I'd get a Problem flash for less than a second, then it would flash a picture of a battery that says "MAIN".

I have not put a diagnostic scanner on it. I don’t own one and we don’t really need a second car so I’d rather sell it than monkey with it. I suspect someone who is willing to do a little work on it could probably keep it running for years.

Buyer will need to come pick it up in the lower Hudson Valley of NY, not far from Kingston. I cannot guarantee you can drive it away; it starts every time, but I haven’t taken it further than the end of the driveway since the battery went. If you want to put a diagnostic scanner on it, feel free. If you don’t buy it, I’ll just ask you to send me the codes so I can update the ad with them.

What questions do you have? This car is in surprisingly good shape for its age.

    Looking for $2,000.

Great deal. The catalytic converter is worth like 3/4 of your asking price alone. Sure someone just needs to pull the HV battery and cycle charge it a few times to get the modules going again.
