Alternative Steering Wheels?

I don't think any of that stuff matters If you look at Grant just to look at how it's done how they do it they have a little spline adapter that screws to the back of the steering wheel that has your horn contact on it which you wouldn't be using you would use the hub adapter and that would adapt about 30 or 40 different steering wheels to fit your business The Toyota's very popular I don't remember how many splines I'll try and count them tonight for you but my Corolla steering wheel will fit the Prius which will even fit on a truck up to a certain point The airbag business doesn't matter You could use an airbag steering wheel and the airbag wouldn't be hooked up to anything and if you could make the sidewing buttons work anything you could also use the steering or the turn signal assembly and the clock spring but then you're getting things very complicated for probably not a very complicated car but I have a couple of the grant steering wheel hub adapter sitting in my toolbox It's a very cheap aluminum design that matches the Toyota pretty standard steering wheel hub that I know from 74 to late up in the '90s and mid-2000s is pretty much the same for some reason 19 splines or something like that comes to mind I know it's a 19 mm nut. But you won't have any problem with this. So if you use the Toyota steering box assembly that's above your knees it'll have the shaft already sticking out of it and you'll be able to pick from a plethora of wheels whether you want to stock Toyota wheel and aftermarket Grant I'm working on fitting an Emerson fittipaldi E3 wheel personally

 

You have companies that make steering wheels I'm pretty sure If I have to call my buddies on Toyota mods blazella and all of those guys on the net from New Zealand and all that they will give me the proper name for your product I'm actually quite surprised Grant doesn't sell in your country because I've seen them on vehicles in your country that have been handmade by people that can do that The guy I mentioned above probably doesn't exist anymore as he's older than I am He used to fly car parts all over the country to build his race car in New Zealand He was a flyboy He flew planes all over the world and would pick up car parts when he was in places where he needed to pick them up America Germany Spain wherever I'm serious it just logs of this online but I'm sure no one's really interested I'll try and take a picture of the adapter plate that adapts Grant and probably other steering wheels from just the raw steering wheel with the five holes in the middle or whatever it is to the splind shaft of the Toyota I have it sitting in my toolbox You could also have something like this made up very easily by even a poor machine shop that's aluminum casting like thing. If you look at Emerson fittipaldi steering wheels You will see what the adapters look like to fit Ferraris and Lamborghinis and Mercedes and well they're very similar for the Toyota there was a thing called the Supra which was a supercar at one point in the world that people were doing all kinds of work to that JZ engine and interior. But yes you will find from somewhere around 1970 all the way up to probably 1997 or better The center steering wheel spleen on almost all Toyota cars and even some of the trucks are the same I've taken steering wheels out of my '85 silica and dropped and right on but 2007 Prius other than applying the nut it's on there now your buttons and all that are another story like I said before. But we're not really working with the buttons and accessories at this point we're just talking about what steering wheels can go where basically so you should have thousands to choose from in salvage yards and here online from people I buy steering wheels for 2008 Prius in like new perfect condition I mean they look Brent when I receive them from the seller in Richmond Virginia they look brand new It's ridiculous 50 bucks and you know what they look like when they're crap

 

I'm not sure I know what a boss is but anyway I don't know if you've ordered a steering wheel or you've been able to get the center section of the steering wheel I didn't think that was removable The hub of the steering wheel with the spleen shaft hole in the center of it I don't think that comes off my Corolla or my Prius steering wheel I have one sitting here I'll look at it again so somehow you've ordered the spleened hold metal piece I guess that could be called the boss that's going to drop on your whatever your building The steering shaft of the assembly you're using Yes it should drop right on there in the 19 mm bolt should apply without problem and hold the steering wheel in place.

 

Have you ever been on a list called the Toyota mods list The Toyota modifications list server? There are a bunch of guys from the UK on Toyota mods that do just what you're doing here I don't know what you're building a race car or a Chapman vehicle or whatever it is open wheel roadster The guys on that list in the UK are constantly building these Chatham roadsters and all of this kind of stuff from scratch.
