The US SE has a fair amount of stuff removed from the trim, the Canadian one has a bit more.

The center console is, yes, shallow. Which is unfortunate.

I think, on the door locks, they mean a physical key lock? I would have to look again but they may be right that the physical door lock may only be on the driver side. Given how keyfobs work nowadays, and how little you use the key pulled out of the fob, I don't think this is a major issue. The car can be programmed to unlock all doors with the unlock button on the keyfob with a single press under the customization menu in the car.

I have no problems either with the heating and cooling system. I does seem to remember what my settings are when I leave the car. The only time it changes is if I use the remote start functions, which override the settings I had when I left the car with what I've set in the app assuming I set the climate controls differently there.

The base models don't come with wireless charging for cell phones, which is unfortunate I guess, but I personally don't feel the need for that feature. I find wireless charging phones creates a lot of heat, and its also slow. I prefer just using a coiled USB cable in the armrest console that is routed through the cable openings to the phone pocket itself.

Wireless android auto is fine. Sometimes it bugs out, but that happens in every car from time to time. The only big bug experience is when navigation is on, and it is speaking out a direction *and* a safety ding happens, such as when someone is approaching your blind spot and you signal early, or you're in 2 lane turn lane and the car doesn't know the difference between "I am turning" and "I want to move over a lane" into the blind spot.

The in car entertainment controls for SXM, radio, etc, are fine. They're basic, but you don't need much for radio control. And while there is no tuning knob, you can scan/search using the left-right arrows on the steering wheel, if you don't want to use the touch screen to tune the radio.

When picking a trim, you need to carefully weigh the offered amenities/options, and what matters to you as must have / nice to have / don't need. For us, the extras above the Canadian SE model weren't worth the extra cost.

Would the softex seats be nice? sure. as would heated rear seats and ventilated front seats. But we have small kids who'll be using carseats/boosters for at least another 10 years. They won't get any benefit of rear heated seats when they're in carseats and booster seats with backs (which is safer until they're a certain height/weight, reached closer to 8-10 y.o.). Carseats and boosters can also damage leather/fake leather materials more easily than cloth due to stretching and pressure. And while leather/fake leather is easier to wipe up spills from, its also more prone to long term damage if not cared for properly as it can crack or peel if certain chemicals or products get left on it - such as sun screen. It's just not worth the hassle and stress of caring for a more premium material, and having unused features like heated rear seats, for a price premium that we won't use for many years.

The SE hit all the must haves, and had some nice to haves that fit our wants and needs. So we are very happy with it. The American models, we probably would have gone one tier up for the front heated seats and heated steering wheel, as those are really nice in the winter and for us are premium features we'd be willing to spend towards.
