Question on speaker replacement

    On a non JBL Base unit, Can I replace the door speaker without replacing the tweater? Will the stock tweater still work?

    Alright maybe this will help someone else 10 years from now. Replaced both front and rear speakers. Seems like if you destroy the OG speakers you dont have to remove the rivets and just insert new speakers in the factory riser. Front tweeters still work. There is a wiring diagram but there is no pink wire in front. I bought some pretty cheat Pioneers and Geavess brand speakers. The Geavess speakers had a bigger magnet. They sound ok but honestly not sure how much better than stock. I upgraded to an android head unit from China and I am running a base tube. Sounds good when inside but not supper loud when outside the car. Im just playing with this car for now so dont want to invest too much money in it. I was hoping to keep the stock speakers for when I sell it but I dont want ot have to buy a riser or fabricate a piese of wood to mount the speakers. I am amazed how good the stock speakers sound though with such a small magnet.

    HELP: Ok. I just now replaced my door woofers with some Kicker 46CSC654 from Crutchfield with their kit stuff. I bought a cheap $5 rivet gun and used the included bracket and called it a day. Installation wasn't too bad honestly, but the new speaker are VERY underwhelming. In fact I'd call them worse, despite having a massive magnet in comparison. I am wondering if it's just a problem of them not getting enough power from the stock amp (gen 2 base system). They sound crunchy when I try and crank them and frankly I'm disappointed.

    My main question is: If I were to somehow disconnect the door tweeters, would that give the woofers more power? The door woofers have tweeters on them and I have found sources where people say if may be good to disconnect them just so they don't clash or something. BUT I have no idea how to disconnect them without it also disconnecting the door woofers. They seem to be running in parallel and when you simply unplug the tweeter it also turns off the woofer... I have no idea what to do (tempted to to just snip the coaxial-like wires that are directly attached to the tweeters and keep the plug attached... but I don't think that's how that works...). ((I may make my own post about this.))
