Not an EV hater. Neither of you live in an apartment or where EV chargers are few.

Just not developed mature enough or suite my current needs.

I do agree that EV's are the future.

The energy needed for and the damage to the environment to source the material to make the batteries offsets the saving to the environment.

Currently the best option are hybrids, which Toyota agrees.

Looking forward to debunking any obscure source that might be linked to. Sounds more like a Sudbury mine fallacy that the nay sayers tried to use against the Prius a couple/few prius generations ago.

You say this, but then you follow it up with misinformation such as:
That is why people tend to categorize you as an EV hater.

If you actual show how you come to these conclusions that would go a long way towards dismissing that belief.
When you ignore requests for references or your line of reasoning, it reinforces the belief that you are biased against EVs.

Just wait 10 years from now when you internet connected BEV will not be supported by the manufacturer and you are in need of a new $15,000 plus HV battery.

    You have the proverbial BRICK.

    Remember when 3G was abandoned?

BMW is already charging monthly to activate accessories like heated seats.
The already installed "brick," if you don't pay.

Microsoft says that they will no longer support Windows 10.

I'm glad that I switched to a Goggle Chromebook three years plus, ago, for use on line.

It's coming; Tesla will eventually charge for over the updates beyond the warranty period or you don't drive.

So rather than answering questions asked of you, you start throwing out lots of loosely related ideas, some of which are irrelevant or just false.

BMW did try the idea of a subscription fee for heated rear seats. Some liked the idea, most didn't. They got a ton of blowback over it and so canceled the subscription plan almost a year ago.

    As for
, where do you come up with this stuff?

Sounds like something an EV hater would say.
Any idea as to when "eventually" is?

Yes, absolutely. But I won't participate.

I learned my lesson from all the obsolete electronic devices and PC's I still have around that I wasted my hard earned money on.

Can't imagine anyone able to restore a barn find 50 year old Tesla.

I am waiting for the totally functional BEV that requires absolutely no over the air internet connection.

Does anyone here own a Fisker Ocean?

For those who own the car, the sky has fallen.

Like every company & product before them - that was poorly designed - along with badly mismanaged leadership - it sent them into bankruptcy & liquidation this year. GM too, went bankrupt for the same reasons - but had the where-with-all to change their course. But please don't let that stop you .... feel free to deflect again.

...then faded away as a concern when that technology was spread throughout the fleet.

Tesla's failure to diversify has consequences. We were taught by previous cases of Innovator's Dilemma that such avoidable situations will have a strong following that fights to retain the status quo. They don't want what made their favored technology to be diluted. Watching that history playout with GM was fascinating. Volt enthusiasts did everything in their power to prevent spread of that plug-in hybrid system. The very idea of it being offered in a sedan or SUV made you a traitor to the cause. Heck, even suggesting a "lite" version got you labeled as a troll.

We have seen the same type of resistance from Tesla enthusiasts. To offer an affordable Tesla, there's no reason to include a large battery-pack. Taking advantage of SuperChargers makes less range practical... but at the same time, sacrifices the exclusivity Tesla owners have enjoyed. This is why NACS was an inevitability. At some point, the practical nature of DC fast-charging would come to the masses. The monopoly by Tesla would be challenged.

In short, there's much more than parts & repairs at play. All new technologies face new stages as audience grows. Some don't survive the change.

Seems like perception and labels are more important than proven facts or physics to some.

ChargePoint stations depending upon 3G for service ended up becoming free, no longer billing you for usage.
