PLEASE HELP!... Tried many things to fix Combo Multimeter but still no solution!

    My daughter's 2005 has a SPEEDOMETER that is blank and a FUEL GAUGE and GEAR SELECTOR DISPLAY that blink alternately.

    I repaired the original COMBO MULTIMETER by replacing the capacitors but the problem continued.

    Then I replaced it with a used COMBO MULTIMETER from the wrecking yard but the problem continued.

    So I paid $370 at the Toyota dealership and was told I need a new COMBO MULTIMETER (see the attached pages)

    So I bought a rebuilt/repaired one from eBay with the exact mileage programmed but the same problem continues

    What do I do next?

    Where you've written down values That's what you actually have versus the text saying what you should have then below that you get to the NG replace the harness and connector or whatever it says I'm not looking at it right now so that's your next step I do believe should you decide to take that step let me ask you this? Are these combination meters you're all using out of essentially the same year model car obviously you can't mix the '04 5 with the six to nine year models. So none of this stuff has been butchered up and we're using the wrong things in any of it? If not then it looks like the harness and connector that go to the combination meter by looking to be suspect or whatever controls or sends out the electrical to that harness and connector could be a problem which I haven't looked through all the paperwork I guess body control module possibly?

    The values were written down by the dealership when I took it in. Yes, both Combo Multimeters were for 2005 (odometer on the left). Nothing is butchered.

    Ordered a harness for the Combo Multimeter and will install when delivered.

    Yeah! Thought about it but figured he'd be too busy. I've read many of his posts and yours too. You guys are the experts!

    Been thinking of turning on or testing the Combo Multimeter without the harness to confirm that the issue is the harness. Do you know which pins on the Combo Multimeter do I connect to power and ground? I've seen a few vague and conflicting posts.When I do this what will turn on? All the lights on the Combo Multimeter or only some?

    I'm not sure that you really want to be doing that I think there's a way to test it and that's what the factory manual is having you do or somebody do that wrote those things down or something so when you get the new harness if you want plug it up and see if you get the values that are printed in the manual not written down by the folks who ran the test I guess on the system that's in there now and then you'll see somewhat what the deal is so I guess with those values that are written down on the paper there they're not acceptable when the new harness comes you should have the numbers that are printed in the manual and then you'll see that's that clog up the MFD and all are the combination meter and you should be good to go I wouldn't be directly plugging in the MFD I don't think. But if you must there are pins on that main center plug the longer one and that's where you pick up your ground your power and your memory and all that
