Brake Pads Questions

Rumor is Akebono makes Toyota pads. If this is true u could get these direct and save the markup. Make sure u get new spring clips and seals for pins. Don't do this job half-ar$ed. Rears require a square tool. I refuse to get cheap rotos. Rather get my OEM rotors cut. Far higher quality metallurgy. Will not trust my life to the cheapest product sold on the Internet by a country that doesn't care about people

 

Have to say I've been satisfied with some Federated brand rotors I picked up in my local brick-n-mortar auto job shop, and they were attractively priced.

 

I bought new rear brake pads for my 2013 prius. My original brake pads had the 1 or 2mm diameter holes to insert the V spring "Anti-Squeal Spring". BUT, the new brake pads did not.
This paper (attached picture) was also included explaining that the V spring is no longer needed.

Is this the correct part or does my dealership parts department gave me the wrong part? Previous Part number was 04466-47100, and new part number is 04466-47101

Anyone have any experience with these new rear brake pads without the hole insert for the V-spring? Any issues arise after replacing with new rear brake pads?

My pads that come from raybesto still have that hole for the v-springs even in cars that that's been deleted for years I guess at some point the backing plates will catch up same backing plate the new ones just don't have the holes at least you know you don't have remanufactured pads or used backing plates which a lot of pads that's what the case is. This is perfectly acceptable and normal unless it's personally not then you can go back and maybe get the originals from Toyota with the holes so you can use your little v springs
