Nice that you found a shop with a prius owner. They are few and far between. If this shop is a good shop, you'll be one of the lucky prius owners to have found one of these.

I am at my local mechanic where based on the codes I gave him from Lazarus, he changed the water pump and the inverter and now it is saying P LOCK MALFUNCTION WHEN PARKING, PARK IN FLAT PLACE ABD APPLY PARKING BRAKE SECURELY

and it won’t drive. Basically it was running before I took it in and now I can’t leave to go see my daughter at camp tomorrow. Argh.

yes, I should’ve gone to the place with the Prius owner

Check the voltage of the 12v battery. It is low and needs to be charged!

This mechanic should have checked for trouble codes himself. He should not have relied on the codes you gave him! I do not think that you needed to replace the inverter, but that is water over the dam.

Do not go back to this mechanic again.

I’m sorry I meant to say he changed the pump and The
    Relay
Not the inverter. Not sure why he changed the relay but now keeps changing and changing it back and car is locked

What is the voltage of the 12v when it is measured with a meter?

I think it is draining because it’s not shutting down and they’ve been working on it for hours.

okay he has tried putting the og relay in a changed the battery

    why the brake malfunction message?

Because the voltage was low in the 12v system in the car.

The mechanic left a door open or a light on during the time he worked on the car, and this drained the 12v battery.

I think you have learned your lesson with this mechanic. Your Prius has a very complex control system, and it is much more difficult to diagnose when there are problems compared to a regular gas car.

Yeah he is charging the battery but thinks it has to be a wire or fuse related to changing the relay.

he seems to think the relay communication was affecting the water pump which was affecting the inverter, hence the two times it temporarily would not go into drive or reverse. He’s been trying to figure it out all day. Literally I drove my car in and can’t drive it out.

Tell the mechanic that you want the old engine coolant pump. In the next couple of days, after you get home, take a few pictures of the old pump and post them in this thread. There is no rush to do this. I would like to see what the impeller looks like on the old pump.

Did the mechanic replace the engine coolant pump or the inverter coolant pump? Please double-check with him.
