I have been a long time user of Hybrid Assistant which, amongst other things, allows me to monitor and control the HV battery fan. My battery generally gets pretty darn hot in the summer and I have a black interior so I use it to keep the fan on 6 fairly regularly.

I just purchased on iPhone for the first time in my life just assuming I would SOMEHOW be able to get that same functionality. But alas, I can't find it (no Hybrid Assistant). Is there any way? I also need to monitor my coolant temp, which I can do currently, but it would be amazing to do along with the battery stuff. I don't think Dr. Prius is ideal (can you control the fan with it?) because of that. Car Scanner is OK, but I can't for the life of me find the battery temp readings. There's the subscription apps, but I'm not really down with monthly payments, happy to pay once though.

Let me know, I guess I might have to go back to android or get a cheap tablet or something.

    Thanks!

Dr Prius on IOS will control your fan based on temperature and give you the battery temps as long as you have it running. But it does not have coolant temp. If you have an android option you like, I would buy a cheap version and mount it.

Yea... So frustrating when people build an app for Android and not IOS. At same time, tech industry app makers more often than not build apps for IOS first then Android, which is frustrating because Android has a way bigger market share than IOS and many apps never get enough interest to justify expanding to Android.

I've found the Dr. Prius version of fan control to be problematic and and Hybrid Assistant's way of doing much more efficient.

Alternatively @SFO has in his signature line (or at least he used to) about how to program your fan to run full blast without needing an app.

I'll have to look into that. It won't let me view their profile. That would help a lot. I really wish Car Scanner had HV battery temp readouts. Also, it looks like Torque Pro is just a scam on iOS, I think that had everything but fan control. At least summer is over so I can just monitor my coolant temp for the time being. Hybrid Assistant was really just the perfect app, I need to just mount a cheap android probably.

It's a real bummer. I completely overlooked this when getting a new phone. I really wanted something small and iPhones are one of very few options there.

You still need an app or scanner constantly writing the fan commands. Otherwise the car's normal control takes over.

Dr Prius does have a fan control override in the special features menu, and it lets you disable the reverse beeping. Fan control only works when it's open though.

Battery temp and voltage are available in car scanner but you have to dig through the sensors to find them and add them to dashboard. I just picked the middle tb2 to monitor cause it's usually the warmest. These are just demo modes random numbers so don't panic.

Dr Prius fan control only works with the app open and on the screen. If you drive Uber, for example, the Dr Prius fan control control will disengage when Uber navigation is on the screen. Or when you get a phone call. Or text. Or look for a podcast to listen to.

I see, then what you recommend aside from Dr. Prius to control the fan speed? do you use any other app?

I don’t know of another way to control fan speed with an iOS device. If I go back to Uber driving I might control the fan with iPad and do Uber app with iPhone.

If you still have an old andriod phone( no active Sim needed) you can download hybrid assistant via your home wifi and it will work. I currently use such a setup as my onboard fan control does not work at all.
