    As many of you already know, or dont know, most cars; specifically newer cars of all brands are tracking you and invading your privacy. To what extend, i dont know as it differs between brands. Some save your messages and movement, while others are more invasive and record your personal data. Heres an example of what i found;

    "According to Mozilla research, popular global brands — including BMW, Ford, Toyota, Tesla, Kia, and Subaru — can collect deeply personal data such as sexual activity, immigration status, race, facial expressions, weight, health and genetic information, and where you drive. Researchers found data is being gathered by sensors, microphones, cameras, and the phones and devices drivers connect to their cars, as well as by car apps, company websites, dealerships, and vehicle telematics."

    So far i discovered, Toyota's Data Communication Module (DCM) is what Toyota uses to collect vehicle location and driving data. They will then sell it to third parties or give it to the feds/law enforcement if requested.

    I wonder if gen3 is safe from this, or were they putting this technology in our cars as early as 2010.

    Another reason to drive older cars if you know this third party spying really really bothers you that much I come from a military Intel background so a lot of the stuff you guys are worrying about and scramble to defeat well this stuff has been around a long time so they have way more data than you really want to know about and are getting more all the time and you're giving them the access on the daily You're all toting $500 cell phones and on and on and on Alexa home Google home need I go on so there's always that My insurance rates are locked in by my military insurance long before anybody starts looking at cameras and worrying about what kind of sexual activity I have in my car wherever so there's always that but yeah big brother's watching and they don't really need your car to do it they can use everything else hell y'all are buying refrigerators and putting them in your houses that companies can use to view your whole kitchen and whatever they can see from that device and you're running to the store to purchase them so it seems kind of weird picking and choosing what items are going to spy on you.

    I suppose the difference is, the fridge spying on me wont lead to me paying more for car insurance.

    Im well aware my phone is spying, and so is everything else. I go out of my way to degoogle everything I own by swapping to grapheneOS or linux. Not sure how much of a difference that makes, as i dont trust anything sending signals. I tape all my cameras and try to keep things in faraday bags or aluminum foil. I dont use Alexa or anything voice controlled lol. Im very privacy conscious and take extreme OPSEC measures, moreso now because of the current climate of how invasive things have become.

    No it could be really worse it could cause you to pay more homeowners insurance because whatever reason you do things in your home that aren't safe like candles things like that You know whatever and the car business they're using speed pretty much only for insurance rates but to me it's hysterical I can drive very slowly and be way more reckless than somebody speeding I can slowly roll through town and pick people off on the sidewalk no speed needed and then cross walks in general wreak havoc on the town but you don't have the lowest insurance rates doing said activities I guess pretty cool If you could see what my nonsense would look like on that machinery for the last 30 or 40 years I wouldn't be allowed to have insurance but then again of course I'll be allowed to have insurance because I'm paying somebody money and that's the end game in capitalist society they will have insurance for me hell I haven't had a driver's license for 40 years and I have the lowest rates of insurance in the state but yet I'm not allowed to drive.? But I log about 110 mi a day oh well my rates haven't gone up and I don't know 38 years

    Whatever information the gen 3 DCM used to nefariously share about you, it used 3G cellular to do it, so now it doesn't. :)
