I recently took my Prius in for a regular maintenance. They rotated and balanced the tires and sanitized the AC system. That's it. They informed me I could pick it up and when I got into the car there were a series of malfunction notices popping up on the screen that were definitely not there before. The associate acknowledged that he did not see them when I dropped the car. They kept my car and gave me a loaner. The next day they called me and said they would need to keep it until Monday when a senior technician could look at it. Today, they informed me that they need to start with "replacing the SRS Airbag ECU Assembly" and that it would cost $1100. Start with? I have asked to talk to a manager. They have not called back.

Sometimes you hear of people spraying liquid into vent ducts, in the dash, where lots of electronics including airbag components are.

You don't often hear of dealers doing stuff like that, but 'never' is a tricky word....
