That restore oil does not work. I'm on my 4th crankcase of it. It's not cleaning the
build up on the oil rings, like I was hoping for. I have another 5qt container I'll be putting in
to use it up, then it's back to the Mobil oil. It was worth the try though. Only $5 more a container.

I will either get a new short block, or remanufactured engine from hybrid pit.....
I will be less hassle with the whole engine, then just the block.

Well my engine is not the original, it was replaced with a rebuilt with newer pistons and rings by Hybrid Pit and is only just going to be 3 years old next month.

Good choice. I switched over to VRP at my last oil change.

Are you speaking of Valvoline Premium Blue Restore Gen 2 or the new Valvoline Restore and Protect?

Oil flow is determined by the oil pump, essentially never changes unless the oil pump goes into relief mode. The steel mesh filter flows no more oil than a standard filter in the same situation.
The micron rating is not very good. 35 microns is about like the grains in 400 grit sanding paper. Standard oil filters capture far smaller particles.
Maybe you will find the element never needs cleaning if your engine is in good shape. If it does get filled, it probably isn’t in very good shape, or the air filter leaks.
Nothing is wrong with the way the KN filter fits in the housing.

Ever tried the toilet paper oil filter that they sold at state fairs?

I also used 4 oz of seafoam 500 miles before changing the oil 3 times....
The oil was really black when I drained it each time.
When I replace the head gasket, the valve train looked almost new.
The slight brown tint wiped off easily with my fingers.

I was just hoping it would MAYBE clean up the oil rings....
It might be, but likely not enough or fast enough. I'm still using about 1.5-2qts of oil
between changes. Depending on my driving.

Oil flow can be restricted by the filter, that is why K&N makes "high flow" filters.

I also did not say anything was wrong with the K&N filter, that is why I was using them to begin with.

This reusable filter though allows more oil to flow than the K&N filter, which is better because the more oil flowing through the ICE the less wear and tear on the internal parts and less of high engine temps since coolant is not the only thing that helps with engine temps.

The 35 micron is fine, I use good oil and my ICE is only 3 years old.

When I have an old engine with oil that gets dirty as soon as I run the engine, and I mean really dirty, not just carmel a color. I either rinse with kerosine or fill 3/4 (face it by the time oile gets that dirty that fast, the engine is usually burning) and run it for a while, not even up to normal temp, than drain and check the filter and check the dip after running new oil for 100 miles. It also works in the cylinders if the engine is cranked by hand, but it can be messy - unless you remember how to do it 10 or 20 years later.

The oil pump determines the flow. The flow stays the same or the oil pump relief valve opens to let oil flow back to the oil pan, or the oil pump drive shears off. The filters don’t flow more.
It’s good to find a product you like. We each get our choices. I am just saying the theory of increased flow is wrong and why. What they say is wrong, it’s just for sales.
