Prius starts with red triangle, stuck in Nuetral, no Drive or Reverse

    Brian1954, yes the inexpensive OBD2 scanner was a waste of $20 and will be returned. The code it gave was bogus. It turns out the 12V battery was dead. When the dealer replaced it, apparently, it fried an already failing Combination Meter (I read about the symptoms of failing capacitors in the Combination Meter here on PriusChat) . Now they say I need to replace the computer. We have no choice now but to make a repair that we've been putting off for a couple of years. It's hard to put $1400 into a ratty looking cluncker of a car, but hopefully now we will have more reliable transportation.

    Well I'm sorry you have to resort to having your ratty car sitting at a dealer It needs to be at a private garage or you can work with somebody because the combination meter repair that's all over the place that can be near nothing I don't know what you're going to pay for combination meter at the dealer I don't know if they'll get one from a junk car or one in the back of water You have to buy a whole new one oh my God but yeah there's always that
