    Hey all,

In my quest to make the coolest (or at least top 5...) Prius v's on the east coast, I'm looking into improving the interior lighting.

Originally I just replaced lights with LEDs and added panels with adapters to the festoons. But it's all white.

I'd like to keep the white as an option, but I'd also like to 1--add another trunk light wired to only come on with the existing one, and 2--make some kind of setup (so long as it looks reasonably clean) where I can toggle the front dome lights (two in front and the one in the middle) to red, ideally with one switch, to hopefully preserve night vision most of the time.

Anyone ever set up such a thing? Or have videos/guides you'd recommend?

Chaining power for LED dome lights is easy. But I also wouldn't know how to go about carefully making cuts in the headliner, or what would look smoothest. I'd be happy to (for example) mount an identical panel to the one in the middle directly behind it, just with a red LED panel instead--but I'm stumped on the front or how to be able to tell it "white" or "red" with a flick.

I don't think you'll have to be cutting the headliner generally there's trim at the edge and you can get out the headliner and reach a fish tool in there so I'm guessing you're going to be what trying to add extra bulbs to the existing nonsense I don't think there's really room in there unless you go really micro tiny LED not like a 194 bulb I'm talking about I don't even know man half millimeter round things or little tiny You might could get those into the existing housings just by drilling a small hole and pressing the LED in running the wire back to your switch gear that sort of thing there are others here who spend their lives electrical engineering so whether they will chime in on something or this is beneath them whatever basic wiring pretty much. So you know you got your hot and your ground and so on and so forth so should be pretty straightforward how you switch gear will work is up to you You've seen people with massive switch gear in and on dash and what have you so wherever you're going to put all this doesn't really matter that's personal stuff access should be fairly good You use something like a Klein fiberglass fish rod you know that's about 4 ft long You're not going to need all of that but that's how it comes and you use that to push the wire from the edge of the headliner over to one dome light with the cover off and the dome light out you see the fish tape with the wire on it sitting right there where you pushed it and so on.

There is a type of LED termed 'switchback' that switches from one color to another with successive on-off toggling, though not sure you will find a red/white in the format you need.
