Prepping for post-apocalypse driving? No offense, but if something like that happened, having a functional car would be impossible. And the least of your problems.

There will always be fuel around even if it is at a higher price.

There will also be people who stock up on fuel and steal it too so there are those options if fuel gets low at all the gas stations.

Plus we all know the Prius uses very little fuel when we use it.

For now we do not have to worry about all that and I will continue to use this nice filter.

During an apocalypse, food, water and fuel for cooking are more important,

Although I am not one of the Later Day Saints, I already have enough supplies to last more than a year,

    Magical thinking

Someone has never been in a city shutdown by a hurricane and lost power much less a societal collapse.

Exactly. A Fiat 500e ev, a water well and 10kw on the roof might make you the most popular guy in the neighborhood.

    @rjparker

Not really magical thinking when you take care of your car as much as I do and know what the orginal engine sounded like.

Versus a fresh rebuild that is only 3 years old and pampered.

I can hear and feel the differences with each change I do.

No hurricanes here but I have been through different things like the L.A. riots with the curfews, the Northridge earthquake, 2008 recession and lets not forget what the pandemic did.

Being without power has happened lots of times so thats not new.

Luckily I am on a well though and have a plugout power 3kw system, that I can connect to my prius and use a generator.

Gas runs out quick with no power as do product pipelines transporting fuel from shutdown refineries. The sun continues to shine.

Guess I better get solar panels...

What happens if the sun gets blocked out?

What if we get hit with an EMP?

Non-perishable canned or dried food and solid fuel military type field cooking stoves are in order.
For longer periods, there is freeze dried foods in #10 cans..
EMP b a enough effect on these.

An environmentally friendly drive for a model of social collapse.
Requires no gasoline, no sunlight, no oil filter.
