My 07 after 3-5 miles of driving at 60mph+ …will suddenly starts blowing black smoke out tail pipe, mpg drops to 15mpg, stops charging hv battery and gradually rolls to a stop as battery becomes depleted. Powering the car off for a 2 minutes allows the car to restart and run normally…I do need to wait a few minutes for hv battery to charge up… then car drives fine the rest of the trip. Throws codes p2195 “ Bank 1 sensor stuck lean” car runs fine under 60mph. Aftermarket Upstream O2 sensor is 3 months old. anyone have any thoughts on this issue?
    Thanks
    Frank

my only thought is an ecu issue, but i have no idea really. i can't understand why turning it off an on fixes it, except for the resetting of an ecu.

What do the fuel trims look like?

Leaning towards replacing with denso o2… just seems odd this aftermarket o2 works fine at city speeds and would only flake out after 3-5 miles of driving at 65+ mph. Another clue is the hv battery stops charging when issue occurs. I wish is knew if that happens once p2195 is set… or is it a charging issue that leads engine issue p2195?

    thank you

I am just as puzzled… clear thing is that it only… only happens at 65+mph speeds…

    Short term trim is 0%
    Long term is usually 12-13%

    thanks

That's a very big trim. Combined with the error code I'm inclined to think that you've got a bad sensor or possibly a major air leak downstream from the MAF.

The long term trim has concerned me. I am gonna try to understand that in more detail.
Nor air leaks, exhaust or vac leaks.
Yes…I don’t yet fully understand the significance of the long term value…ongoing… I have not found any intake, exhaust, or vac leaks… looks like I am leaning towards installing denso o2 in hopes of resolution. Original sensor was denso and car did the same thing before sensor heater failed …thus the replacement was installed.

gonna stay at it til I get this issue fixed….
    thanks

It's the fuel injection computer's way of saying "I don't mean to alarm you, buddy, but I'm really surprised by how much bonus gasoline I'm having to spray into this thing based on what the O2 sensor is telling me."

The P2195 is "On second thought, it is worth an alarm."

Plan on an extra oil change once resolved, there's probably a bunch of fuel diluted in there now.

I hear ya!… gonna have to try a denso o2 sensor. This issue has happened 6 times over a 5k span, oil looked good, just got changed 600 miles ago. Looks like I gotta keep it under 65mph til I get this issue fixed… I can see it now…” look at that slow Prius holding everything up on the interstate”…. lol….

    thanks
