Personally I believe you should be able to hold these people's feet to the fire when they do crap like this they're supposed to print that mess out. Wth are they thinking. Another reason why I don't mess with any dealers especially with a car that's 20 years old almost or whatever there's too many people that have them everybody knows all the problems etc there's list like this where people have been doing these same problems over and over again for near 20 years and yet you go to the dealer and they look at you like you're well from another planet a lot of that is because they want to do that because then charges can go up and we can drive around our elbows and our back of our head and down our backs to get to our butts you know and all of those maneuvers cost money so there you go to get the charges up they need to go round and round backwards and forwards and get you all confused and mixed up so that you can keep writing those checks look at the people working at your dealers their children and stuff out of high school and they just came over from the Denny's because they bought a car and now their car people yeah all that

When you disconnect your 12volt battery for a few minutes you're doing the equivalent of a factory reset on all the systems and will have reinstalled everything other than the key fobs back to what the car's setting were when brand new.

If you get warning lights / error codes after that, it's becuase there's a specific problem that needs to be repaired and the specific error codes will allow us to walk you through your repair options. Please get those error codes and post them.

You can do it yourself if you buy one of these and use an app like Dr. Prius or Car Scanner (ELM): Panlong OBD2 Scanner Bluetooth OBDII Diagnostic Tool Car Code Reader Turn Off... | eBay

'they cleared the codes'. agreed, that is no good.
'need codes reinstalled like when new'. what exactly do you mean?
orange light comes on and goes off'. does the car not make 'ready' at that point?
i would have the 12 volt battery load tested for free at many auto parts stores

Thanks for replies but........12 volt battery replaced recently. Then, about a month later the starter power button would come on in the am when first starting.

How do I get the original codes installed like when it was new?

This makes no sense. There is no procedure to "install" codes. I think you have a misunderstanding of how things work.

Thanks for your reply but I've heard much conversation about this and in fact at the dealer the tech told me he had to reinstall the codes. When I replaced the hybrid battery with a rebuilt one, the installer said he had to replace the codes. Can you explain?

Maybe you're misunderstanding what was said. Could they be saying they had to clear the codes?

"Codes" are trouble codes. They're not installed; they're displayed, when the car's computers detect a problem. A car rolling off the factory floor should have no codes displayed. If dealership cleared codes, and they don't come back, you're likely ok.

So is the car starting and running ok?
