Recently, my 2005 Toyota Prius hatch trunk door has been intermittently opening, but most times staying shut/locked. I checked 2 different key fobs, and they both work fine.

I took a 10 second video of the problem, and it may be an electrical/mechanical issue? As you can see, the latch that is activated when I press the trunk button runs out of "juice" the more times I press it.

How can i go about fixing this issue? Thanks guys!! Video below.

First off make sure you're 12 volt is actually 12 volts and working you'd be surprised. Then after that more than likely the motor you're activating itself just grab one out of another car

The 12 volt is working fine — everything else in the car is working great. It is reading ~12.45.

And what do you mean by “grab another motor out of another car”? Do you mean I should buy a trunk activator motor and replace the current one? Thank you!

It looks like it that's what would be slowing down as you keep activating it does less and less and less because it's more and more and more worn as you continue to keep activating it looks like so grab one out of another car or buy a new one I mean but you never want to have to do it again I would think that might be a little costly I've never bought one I have five six cars here I just take it off another car Just takes a minute
