    Hey there,

Long time reader, first time poster here

Recently, I dropped my already quite damaged key fob in a lake while canoeing, and after I fished it out it hasn't been able to lock or unlock the doors of my 2005 Prius (no SKS). Water damage seems to be an obvious culprit (and it was wet on the inside), so I opened the key, cleaned and dried it thoroughly, and the electronics seem to work again. The red light on the fob lights up when I press unlock or lock, and I can measure a burst of RF radiation at 433.9 MHz when either button is pressed.

I could and still can start the car by inserting the fob in the dash. I can also unlock and lock the driver door using the hardware key. Does anyone know how I can restore smart key functionality, i.e. remote locking/unlocking of the doors? I have looked around, but can't seem to find any other posts related to this issue. Thank you so much!

i don't think there is a way to repair a damaged circuit board unless a qualified electrical technician can diagnose and replace bad components.
