    2008 prius touring. 166,000.

recently triangle of death with just red car and exclamation point on display.

dealership said corrosion on 1 cell and need whole new battery. I should have pulled the codes but ignorantly dropped it off.

the car ran fine 56mpg no issues. the battery was charging fully green which i never really noticed it doing before.

my mom uses this dealership for her prius. when dropped off they were clearly informed to call me my number.

some reason they call moms number. she calls me and says that my car will be ready tomorrow. they put a new hybrid battery in it.

I was astonished. I pick it and ask for the codes can't remember what they gave no invoice on me. no P0A80A (failing hybrid).

I would have demanded to be present to at least see new battery. IMO they didn't touch the battery from what I understand a new oem battery includes the entire shell.

I still have the original old dull aluminum battery pack in the car. is this normal?

I have a few pics the inside was completely dusty. the pics are not good but hoping someone may be able to see something. there's a date year stamp on the black plastic piece of the pack kinda hard to read.

I've worked on cars for 39 yrs but hybrids I know zero.

    can someone help.

The newer replacement batteries will have the CE logo and the QR code to scan on the very top of the case The original battery I don't think shipped with this I change the original battery in my '09 very close to when I first got it the original battery that was in it that I removed personally I don't think had a CE logo on it and I'm sure it didn't have a QR code the new battery that I picked up off the loading dock at the Toyota dealer in a similar case that the guy shows in one of these posts that he's toting in his bolt. And the new picked up battery had a QR code on the top of the lid no front end with the red or black sticker on it is included that came from my original battery. And then I picked up a few batteries out of cars and towing lots that look like they had just been replaced not very long ago All the bus bars were still copper colored It had a QR code on the case top the CE logo on the white labels etc on the batteries were in very good shape and they're in my other cars working fine still now. But the original battery I removed no QR code I don't think that was a thing yet.
