I've been outfitting my new to me prime. One thing of noticed is that the cargo cover blind is black. I would think that having it closed would create a very hot trunk. I don't want to cook the battery and have it prematurely fail. Are there any third party Cargo covers that are not black.
    thanks

Aren't the "curtains" on the lower trim levels grey in color? I'm going by memory which is fading by the day for me.

Ours is gray, and I never take it out of it's bad. Stored away with the wheel covers. we do have the black rummer cargo mat and I never gave any thought to cooking the HV battery do to interior color. Although in year round hot climates of the desert SW of the US, there's no way I'd keep anything black inside or outside the car.

If you are that worried about your HV battery. one way to help it along in extreme hot weather is to switch to HV mode and run through the warmup cycle till the engine shuts off automatically than turn on the A/C gently and close the windows.

my better 3/4 insists on using it. colour absolutely matters. Infrared is absorbed rather than reflected when black.Mostly concerned when the car is sitting and doing nothing and baking. heat is not good for batteries.

Where would you be able to get a grey one, used?

i wonder if the grey shade from 2010 to 2015 fits.If it does not buy used one

Ceramic tint the glass, Problem solved.... They have clear ceramic tint, claims 99% heat rejection. All I know is that my rear passengers claim that the back of their neck no longer gets burnt.
I think that's easier than running all over Hades looking for a specific color cargo cover; or maybe that's just me.

    Hope this helps.

The only concern I have about this, although the glass may reject infrared radiation coming in, it would also reflect to going out. in theory at least to me would make sense that somebody was to put this on all of their windows, heat would be reflected back in but it would take longer to heat up. the reason why am hesitant to get a film.

Is anybody use this with success? is it recommended?

You need to check the laws of your local jurisdiction. Any automotive tint shop in your area should know those rules. Shop around, prices vary widely here in the states. I know people that has tinted their windscreen, all their glass - illegal in most jurisdictions, but clear tint should be fine and barely noticeable. The main objection is from law enforcement, they can't clearly see into the car. As long as it's tastefully done, you shouldn't have a problem.
I was stopped once by law enforcement and he noticed the very light tint on my drivers door. Illegal at the time, he mentioned it but didn't write me up for it, so I didn't have to remove it. Manufacturers didn't sell clear tint at the time, much less ceramic 99% UV rejection tint.
I've had that done to my car and it's noticeably cooler. I didn't do the windshield because I've got a small rock chip. I didn't want to spend the money, then having that rock chip walk it's way across the glass. I can feel the heat coming through the windscreen - but no place else. the left side of my face no longer gets hot while traveling north or south and I no longer have "truck drivers arm". Left hand and arm darker than the right side due to constant exposure while driving.

    Hope this helps....

PS: what is the source of UV radiation within the car that needs to get out?? When it hits a dark object, the energy is transferred to heat. If UV radiation just bounces around within your car forever; tanning bed vendors would go out of business. Uncle Trump could just sit in his black SUV to get a tan, instead of spraying himself with that orange stuff...o_O:oops:

i would only do the back window in this case. I would leave the rest alone.

does anybody have the part number the original grey cover? (rollable)
