Where can I find underbody part numbers? Dealer wants outrageous sum for replacing plastic slash guard that came loose, including $18 each for 11 fasteners!

Is there an illustrated guide online?

Thank you - but not much luck so far! It's not very user-friendly!

Toyota USA’s parts site underwent a “revision” a year or two back, making it near-impossible to use.

Amayama’s been my go-to, though of late they’ve switched to a different vehicle ID system, requires you to spec the technical vehicle code, typically starting with ZVW I believe. If you sort that out then it’s on to the part category maze. Still infinitely easier than the Toyota USA site. Usually better prices too, but that varies.

will your dealership give you part nos, or is that closely guarded secret?

    $18 for a plastic fastener?

    What were they smoking?

I think it's a little like the old yarn where the guy is called to fix a complicated machine, looks it over, bonks it in one place with a hammer, it roars back to life, and he bills $1,000. The customer says "$1,000 to bonk with a hammer?! Send us an itemized invoice!" and he sends

    Bonk with hammer: $0.50
    Knowing where to bonk: $999.50

In the case of a car dealer parts department, I think it breaks down sort of like

    Plastic fastener: $0.10
Logistics system that tracks and warehouses a million different car parts nationwide and gets the one you need to the dealer by 10 am tomorrow: $17.90
