I saw a Tesla Cybertruck when I was driving yesterday, and I couldn't believe the taillight design. It is potentially violating some DOT regulations. If not, it is barely legal with questionable safety. I thought the center high-mounted stop lamp was supposed to be higher than the other brake lights. Basically, sections of the light bar is turned off during braking so that it looks like the brake lights and a center high-mounted stop lamp.

Even the Tesla Cybertruck’s brake lights don’t make sense

The OP shouldn't get his panties all bunched over it. Reason being, if the design turns out to be less than ideal, the good news is - the fix is only a software push away.

Same reaction as I followed a CT home the other night. But at least all its lights work. Around here I see a brake light failure at least once every local trip. If possible I pull up next to them and a stoplight and tell them. Uniformly received positively. Heck I've even pulled into a parking lot to tell them. I must appear non-threatening because I've never gotten a very negative reaction especially when I phrase it "I don't want you to get pulled over".

When was the last time you looked at your tail and brake lights?
