I took my 2016 prius C 2 to the Toyota Dealer in Long beach. They diagnosed the Key fob issue for $195 and quoted me $714 to reseed the new key.
Programming 1 key is $714.86 tax
Reseed labor - two units $442
replacement key from toyota - $272.86 + tax
I will get 1 Key fob, 1 dummy key
The $195 paid initially will be deducted from the total.
    Is this normal?

It's very expensive at the dealer. Try an independent locksmith.

It may be normal for a Toyota dealer in Long Beach but for the rest of us it’s highway robbery.

Call several quality locksmiths near you and simply ask them if they can sell you a new Prius C key fob. The good shops have the software necessary to reset the car’s immobilizer.

I would think it would be 1/3 to 1/2 the dealer cost. Maybe two for 2/3 the cost of 1 at a dealer.

Tell them you will bring the car to them.

If you had two fobs and one failed it is much easier to setup a new fob. Get two this time.

So, Instead of letting the Dealer reseed the keys, I went to my local locksmit. He did his magic and my keyfob is back in action for just $85.
Meanwhile, I’m out $195 for the dealer's "diagnostic," which was basically just them telling me what I already knew. :D

Good suggestion. The locksmith quoted $140 for setting up a new one, is that a good price?
