Hey y'all. I love my prius and it kinda breaks my heart, but the time has come. I have no idea the best route to go... please forgive me if this is not the correct forum for this. Question is, do I go FB marketplace? Another good place to sell? Do I scrap? Do I fix a couple key items and then try to sell?
    • 2007 Prius with over 300K miles, but engine was replaced after 150k miles.

    • electrical - need to replace the 12 volt battery every 9 months or so, or else headlights and dash lights sometimes don't come on.

    • key fob does not work to unlock door, needs to be in key slot to power on, manual key won't work so I always keep one door unlocked.

    • Suspension is pretty bad. (need to avoid potholes to avoid a teeth-chattering CLUNK)

    • Back hatch has plastic has snapped off and held up by gorilla tape.

    • Back bumper has been replaced with a different color.

    • Front hood latch will not release.

    • Driver side mirror got knocked off, currently is held up with gorilla tape.

    • Tires need replacing.

    • Gas tank door snapped off, currently gorilla taped in place

    • Noticeable dents back passenger door and front driver wheel well (cosmentic only, does not effect function)

    • It had been sitting for a bit, and now can hear some scraping at the wheels while driving -- rusty rotors??

Sounds like a great car with all the usual minor problems... If you lived in my town, I'd offer you a relatively inexpensive restoration plan to keep it on the road to 500K miles. You might find a newer car that's nicer, but you'll never find a better more reliable car than the Gen2 Prius. Best hybrid car ever made!

What is the average fuel consumption now?
By investing heavily in repairs, you increase the cost of an average trip.
By not investing in repairs, you risk one day being left in the middle of the road with a car that will turn into an immobile pumpkin.
Everyone looks for a compromise and balance of funds in their own pocket.
