    Hello Everyone!

I've been a member for a few months now but never actually posted anything until today. I submitted my HOV application Oct 10th and got my HOV stickers today in the mail. The stickers are big and ugly, that's for sure! I honestly don't care because I feel proud of having a great environmentally friendly car. Just the thought of driving on the carpool lane alone is great for me. I commute quite a distance to work, so the stickers will definitely cut my commute time. It's raining out here in SOCAL so I haven't put the stickers on. My Prius is black so it's going to be most noticeable. My sticker # 82,2XX

Hey fellow Inland Empire Prius pal... Welcome! I too was so excited to get my HOV stickers a few months back. They sure do help with my 90 mile daily round trip too. See you on the road!

Just got mine as well. Can't wait to get some of that free L.A. and Valley parking.

This might help - I submitted my application in early November. At that time the DMV said they 4,000 applications already in the queue and they were receiving 400-500/week. My number is 84xxx, so I guess they started at 80,000; and the 4xxx is consistent with the 4,000 applications. With 500/week, 9 weeks, I'm assuming they've issued 8,500+ of the 10,000. With the publicity of the additional 10,000 they may have received more than 500 applications per week in Dec and Jan. In either case, it's getting pretty close to the end.

I suspect there is going to be a lot of unhappy people that have purchased a hybrid in January (after learning about the 10,000 HOV stickers), only to discover they are already issued.

Like other folks, I too rushed out and stuck them to the car Thu night and drove in the carpool lane on Fri - nice!

Interesting little items in the San Jose Mercury News today (Jan 9, 2007) from Gary Richards who writes a column called Roadshow.

    1. DOV has sent out 5,945 stickers since Jan 1 with an additional 1,962 being processed. That leaves nearly 2,100 still available.

    2. For those in the Bay area that needs FasTrak before applying for the sticker ... "starting Wednesday, drivers can get a FasTrak tranpsonder at Cistco and Safeway stores. Click on Bayareafastrak.org for a list of stores"

    Jess --

I too got my stickers on the 4th and was in a quandry about where to mount them -- the yellow stands out so much on the black. I decided to mount the side stickers as low as possible on the molded plastic bumper part that extends to the wheel well -- and am very glad I did from a cosmetic standpoint, the stickers while visible aren't as super conspicuous as I've seen on other cars.

Front and back I took the same approach -- mounted as low as possible. Once I can get the car washed and the road grime reduced I'll take some pics to share. B)
