Hey guys, I have a 2007 Prius. I am about to pull the trigger on on some Scion TC Wheels, however I am wondering how I can avoid having the tire pressure light blinking at me constantly.

So is the tire pressure sensor in the stems? And will my old stems work on the TC wheels?

    Any help would be great

    Thanks, Jesse

Thanks for the thread. But I have seen some people with TC rims on this board so I am hoping that one of them will chime in to see if those specific wheels will work with the sensors.

the valvestem angle's different. there's a helpful search function up on the top right corner of the page that might help ya find some other threads about the tC wheels. docvijay and i discussed this for a bit a while back when the 06s and hence prius TPMS systems were new, should come up in a search. ;)

Im not sure where you are getting your info, but after some digging I have found that the part # for all year scions and the prius are the same thing. So to me it would mean it has to fit.

I'd recommend not dismissing galaxee's input quite so easily; not saying that your info is wrong or right, but in any case you *are* second-guessing one of the primary sources of information on PriusChat.

Also, the Scion wheels weigh lots more than the Prius ones; the swap will increase unsprung weight significantly, with a corresponding loss in MPG.

Finally, increasing unsprung weight is not generally thought of as a way to make a car handle better; you'll probably get somewhat of a net increase, but it'll likely have more to do with tire selection and size than anything else.

    hybrids2000:

Prior to putting the tC wheels on I was able to remove my tire pressure sensors from the factory prius wheels and installed them on the tC wheels. Everything fit fine. I've had them on for about 6 months now and not one problem.

here's my reference from this time last year:

    quoting DocVijay:
"Apparently the valves come in 20 degree and 45 degree varieties depending on the model it's used on. The tC wheels use the straighter 20 degree valves."

he went on to purchase a new set of sensors. maybe this no longer applies for the 07s?

anyway the whole thread is here: http://priuschat.com/index.php?showtopic=15228
