Toyota's Forgotten Hybrid Unibody Pickup Truck Yes it's a recent article, like today. A concept all the way from 2008, the A-BAT seems to have aged well. Always reminded me somewhat of a Honda Ridgeline. The rear seats slid out from under the truck bed. All kinds of tie downs in the truck bed. Sort of a first attempt at a yoke steering wheel. It wasn't horribly ineffective at doing what a truck is supposed to be doing, which is hauling cargo. Kind of what the Cyber Truck does now. Had a cool feature where a sliding drawer was concealed under the bed, but unlike the Ridgeline, it could be accessed without opening the tailgate. Another reason the tailgate was rather high and thick. The rear suicide (aka coach) doors were probably brought over from the Tacoma. It also had solar panels on the dash to power interior electronics and lighting.
