It's got to do with what information is being the Satellite tuner back to the MFD.
In the case of the FM radio data you observed, that's a feature of the RDS function of the
factory radio. It receives data (if broadcast by the FM station) and displays it on the MFD.
Satellite receivers could easily do it too (theorhetically), it's just a matter of having a sat tuner that will take
in all the data broadcast, format it's output so the factory radio and MFD can take it as input,
and send it over using the appropriate interface (wire-harness).
My guess is it will get there....eventually....just going to take a while for the hardware/software development to catch up. So if you're reading this and you're one of Toyota or Audiovox's egg-headed development engineers, get back to work!

Also, I was wondering...is the 10 character limit the function of the remote tuner or the MFD or the Head?

It's my understand the problem is with the Sat tuner. If the MFD can scroll FM broadcast information then it certainly could scroll the information if the Sat tuner sent it.

I still don't get why it's such a big deal for more the expensive tuners to have a scrolling display like $99 units have. They also have more room inside those tuner boxes than the less expensive units. Seems like a no brainer to me.

I just bought my 2007 Prius about 3 weeks ago and purchased Sirius at the same time for $400. The dealer assured me that the radio would be integrated in the console. About a week later I left my car in the shop for the installation and the installer (a 3rd party) called to let me know that they were going to install a 'portable' unit with a docking station. When I asked why, he said that Sirius was not available for the 2007 yet. When I told them that it is available on the factory interactive web page they said that the FI unit cost more and the labor would be more than what I paid for. I told them to forget it. I wrote to FI asking them a few questions and I got replies (2) from Jon within a couple of hrs - impressive customer service. I'm going to purchase the unit this weekend.

I just got my Sirius from Factory Interactive just a week ago and am very pleased with it and their customer service. The only issue is that all of the text doesn't display but knew that before purchasing. Enjoy :)

I am very impressed with Jon at Factory Interactive. I installed a his Sirius kit in one of our Prius and the installation DVD was a great help. I did a much cleaner antenna wire install than he suggested though. I didn't like having the wire go over the rear hatch seal as it would be moving all time with hatch openings.

I am thinking about buying another Sirius kit for our other Prius. How about a group purchase?

I've had my Factory Interactive Sirius Prius installed for over a year now, and it's great! Of course, the character limit is annoying.

I ordered my Sirius Prius kit two weeks ago, delivered in 2 days. I was a bit intimidated by the manual but as noted by posters the DVD makes it look easy. The weather has been bad for the past 2 weekends but should be good this weekend so I will do it and keep updating.....

I installed my Sirius radio a few weekends ago. Thank goodness for the DVD, once I started pulling off the first panels it was very easy to do. The only glitch from the DVD was when I was snaking the logic cable up from the driver side kick plate up over the steering wheel. My Sirius (2007) had a bracket by the driver's side left leg that got in the way - you have to put the cable to the left of a wire bundle below the bracket. After a few knuckle scrapes I got it. Overall it was easy and the activation went flawlessly. I am now in commercial free Sirius satellite bliss during my 1 hr commute! If you can change a light bulb, I would recommend this to anyone. It saved me a little over $150 and it was worth it.
