For sale: 2004 Prius~$2,400. Currently runs, but needs rear struts/ mounts which I have. Has some fender rust.
In the past had characteristic rear hatch roof pinhole leaks, and 12 v battery well and opposite side have had rust damage repair. This cars engine runs like a gem. Uses virtually no oil. Engine has been well maintained. Engine light reveals gas tank recap issue. Possibly gas cap. Since it has rust, I'll list valuable and /or new parts below. One one side has minor scrape/ dent on door
    • relatively young OEM traction battery. I got it from a mechanic whose customer had it replaced by Toyota then got in collision 2 years later. I've had it about 4 years.
    • brand new quality rear struts and mounts (pic)
    • JVC stereo 4 yrs old
    • new radiator/ condenser 4 yrs old
    • has a CAT carburetor theft shield
    • has original carburetor (worth roughly $1k I was told)
    • has custom Curtis hitch (pic) This has been removed and power coated for rust free life.(you'll need screws)
    • new rear hatch lift struts (not installed)
    • good / young 12 v battery, tires, brakes, rotors, front wheel bearings
    • has had 'transmission oil' changed in last 5 years.

No carburetor. It has a catalytic converter (cat).

Will it pass inspection as is?

You are right~catalytic converter. (carb felt wrong as I typed it)
Yes, it has passed MA inspection ...currently has a sticker. As mentioned, the current issues are need for rear struts , and engine light re gas tank (no big deal, just annoying) I turn off engine light using FIXD, but it eventually comes on again.
To be honest, it kills me to sell Gen 2. I have a Gen 4, and owning 2 cars does not have common sense appeal. Gen 2 perfect amount of high tech imo. Iron out its bugs (wheel bearings, brake actuator, steering column engagement, pinhole leaks rear hatch/roof...and this odd looking little bar of soap is the perfect vehicle.
