IMO, you are wasting your time and money. We already know what causes the "death rattle," so why are you taking it to the Toyota dealership to ask them? The "death rattle" is caused by misfires in the engine. The "rattle" is coming from the damper plate that is located between the engine and the transaxle.
Good point Brian. I was just curious what the dealers sevice advisor would say. I went there to check out some used Toyota's they had on their lot. I played him the YouTube death rattle video and of course, he had no idea what the rattle was.
News flash.... Service advisors are commissioned salesmen. Most have never been a mechanic and have not gone through Toyota technical training. Their job is to be your new friend and convince you that optional services are a good idea. Most of the time they are trying to translate a mechanic's notes to an equally untrained customer. They really are not much different from the dealer's car salesmen who are also commissioned and have almost no technical details.
