I'm getting this error and wondering if anybody has any experience in solving it. So it's either the sensor in my inverter failed, or its the wiring harness connection. (and in rare cases, the ECU itself)

The hybrid system warning light came on while idling in a parking lot. I took a chance and drove it home 15 minutes. During this time, the traction control light and brake warning lights came on. I am assuming the regen got disabled as a safety measure.

I got home and pulled the P0A03 code. I tried clearing it a few times to no avail. A few hours later I turned the car back on and the code cleared.

This morning I commuted 35 miles to work. Before departing, I checked the inverter coolant (full and circulating), and pressed on the wiring harnesses. The code did not reappear over the 35 mile trip. It was only 75 degrees outside this morning. Yesterday was nearly 100 when the code came on.

So I'm left wondering if I have bad wiring or a bad inverter sensor. I do have chatGPT-generated troubleshooting guides to check the continuity and resistance of the specific wiring harness pins.

One caution: from what I've seen so far of members posting genAI answers to Prius troubleshooting questions, it seems like the AI still has a long way to go to get beyond the "really talented bullshitter with light-speed google skills" stage. The repair manual (written by actual people who weren't asking google how the car worked) might still be worth a look.

ahh, yeah alot of chatGPT's answers seem suspect at best. I will attempt to get actual service information. From what I can tell, the issue does seem to be isolated to a fault with the sensor signal itself though, so it has to be sensor, wiring, or ECU. I just figured I'd post on the off chance that anybody has dealt with this issue.

My inverter has been removed twice (pre-emptive coolant pump replacement and again for the IPM repair) so the wiring harnesses aren't in amazing shape. They look very weathered as well. If I find one cheap enough I may just consider swapping it out. I did find a very cheap used inverter locally, but I'm hesitant to put one in without the new IPM installed.
