Hi all! Sadly I’ll be getting rid of my 2014 Prius v five, as it needs a new head gasket and engine (confirmed by 2 mechanics). It has 148k original miles, perfectly good battery, original cat. What would you try to sell it for privately? I posted it to FB and immediately got 100+ messages so I’m guessing it’s worth more than I thought. I’m in CA if that helps…Thanks so much!
i would deduct the repair cost from book value in good running condition. you can get that from kbb.com. be careful, there are a lot of scammers on facebook!
Buying a car that needs an engine leaves many unknowns for the buyer who may want to part it out or has to replace the engine to flip it. The offers will be closer to $2k max than book minus a hg.
