Quote: All front Lower control arms Quick-Struts Balljoints Swaybars 1300$ Add front tirerods 1400$ Rear struts included 1600$ 95k miles, 18 years old, suspension is all OEM. My mechanic only recommends the first 1300$ of work, I can do the rest if I want to pay for it. The manual says to do the rear as well at this mileage but he says its good. Are these reasonable quotes? Labor is 7 hours, 170x2$ for quick struts, arms & ball joint 130$.
Why in the world would your suspension need to be replaced at only 95k miles in Florida? Is this a "because the manual says to" or do you feel a problem when driving? ....and he's not going to change the sway bar on a Gen 2. Maybe bushings. I have 220k on a (still) oem suspension and the car rides just fine and straight as an arrow. My other had 300k when I did all 4 corners and the difference was hardly noticeable, but I don't do a bunch of hot rod curves, either. There's just no way I can believe a 2007 under normal use, with no 'damaging' event, with 95k miles would need anything at all done to the suspension.
Check it and replace if needed. Especially the rubber parts like control arm/tie rod ball joints and bushings. Avoid quick strut. Read mixed reviews.
Good to know, I might just try that then. The suspension is still bouncy, though I plan on going on a long roadtrip soon so idk if I should keep it as is.
What's the car history? Using in demo derbies? Jumping curbs? Was it originally an Ohio or rustbelt car? The three I currently own have a combined 700k+ miles and have never had a control arm replaced. Any idea what's causing yours to get beat up?
