Featured Trump tariffs put the US auto industry in disarray

    So, whom are the Trump tariffs punishing? The People and companies of the US, as most people would have guessed. The Ford CEO is normally very Trump-friendly, but he has spoken up about how bad it has become for the US auto industry now. Let’s see how the United Auto Workers will feel about this, who were cheering about the tariffs.

    The last Ford factory I drove by didn't appear to be shut down, and if they all did shut down that would leave an increased market share for Toyota - eh?

    Which specific tariffs?
    What are they now?
    Against whom?


    Like many US Submariners I have fond memories of the Sun, but not so much for their journalism.... ;)

    Let’s hope we are lucky. It will take a while before the Trump tariffs and Trump Middle East wars take their tolls. It could be a year or two.

    That's what Chamberlain thought - several decades ago. All his fears came to fruition anyways - because he never bothered to act up front, in the very fashion England had to do anyways. Funny thing about all of the pacifistic folks that agreed with chamberlain. They quickly shut their ignorant pie holes quickly once they realized the consequence of their stupidity.

    We have fascism in the US now. I guess that is how the far right/Trump supporters define freedom.

    The Republican party has always been pro-war in the Middle East—in order to fearmonger about Muslims and control oil, I guess.

    And Trump said during his campaign that he would end the wars and never start a war.

    Here is a new acronym for Trump: TAL—Trump always lies.

    My recent trip to Muskegon MI, the gas prices ranged from about $2.80 in Dixie to about $3.30 in Michigan. There sure were a lot of land barges keeping the gas prices high.

    I've seen economic distress areas but Muskegon takes the cake. Often I'll avoid traffic jams by taking cutting through neighborhoods but talk about blocks of abandoned buildings. A past source for Detroit suppliers, it looked like they'd been nuked. The only modern stuff were the hundred or so Teslas that gathered for the meetup.

    I remember in the 2010 trip to Detroit seeing the depressed area. But Muskegon was really sad.
