Hello, I have a 2012 Prius three and I just repalced the engine due to rod knock. I also replaced the entire wiring harness as well. The car is getting a current P0A2D code for the temperature sensor. I read so many forums that its most likely the sensor that needs to be cleaned or a faulty connection. I put the car on the lift but im having trouble finding the actual connector. Does anyone have a location for the plug?
I found this image that may or may not help: Also is your error code reader updated with latest Prius/Hybrid error codes? Because some generic code reader will throw a generic code like this and it won't be correct because it's not Prius-specific. All that being said, hopefully @SFO sees this and posts the writeup for diagnosing that sensor... Sounds like a fairly typical problem after wire harness replacement. So many little things gotta get plugged in just right!
I second @mr_guy_mann That is the location of the motor temp sensor plug. I just had the same code on a 2nd gen and found the red (pwr) wire of the 4 wires cut off which most likely happen while I replaced the transaxle. In the 2nd gen, the temp sensor is NOT replaceable and located inside the MG2 side of the transaxle. Not sure if the same applies to your 3rd gen (I hope not). Look at my post if you want an idea as to what the motor tems sensor looks like on a gen 2 and maybe you can give you an idea, 2008 Prius will NOT move + Code P0A90 Drive Motor “A” Performance | Page 3 | PriusChat
Just to clarify. The P0A2D code description is "Drive Motor "A" Temperature Sensor Circuit High". This temperature sensor is located inside the transaxle.
... and therefore pretty much nothing ever happens to that sensor, well-protected and enclosed as it is, and any trouble code that pertains to it is almost certain to mean something outside the transaxle, from that electrical connection shown outside the case to the wiring leading from there to the ECU.
