Just curious. Assuming that you guys are able to find a way to display video on the MFD, what are you going to do about input? Is there a way to access the touchscreen?

    Hi Everyone
    Hope all is well.
If this works, which I think it will, I need someone to try this on a 2007 Camry.
    Thanks Dominic www.TVandNav2Go.com

Well the product I tried only partially worked. It would display a picture but it had a problem on the right hand side of the screen. I think it might be some kind of sync issue.

    I still haven't found a product that %100 works.

CXB1451 transmitter rgb to twisted pair info at http://www.elparadise.com/downloads/CXB1451Q.pdf
    CXB1452 receiver

    Good luck!

There are two chips for this process a transmitter chip and a receiver chip. What we need are transmitter chips or items that have them in them such as the Nav unit, these Sony LCD's and, the units that feed the aircraft LCD units. There may even be one in each seat on the aircrafts from around the world so there is really a big supply out there of inexpensive used items.

    Hi Everyone
    Hope all is well.
New GVIF units will be in April 1st. This will fix the double image on the screen you guys have had.
    Thanks Dominic www.TVandNav2go.com :)

    Hello Dominic,

Can you post info on the new unit in question? specs or pictures or even the name?

I don't see any reference to this on your website.

    thanks,
    -Joe

Did any one ever hear back from the Nav2go guy on this? Or better yet, a homebrew soln? (anything over $300 was a bit high for this mod i felt)
I'd really like something like this for a carputer. I understand the lockpick access to the 2007 mfd is just rca video (much lower quality)?
I don't have nav, so would be cool to use the map button on the wheel to activate the carputer screen.

yeah, i've got both threads on watch.
The closest soln seems to have been from a prototype unit from Nav2go. The two gvif threads need to be merged - but anyway, since I'm not adding anything, i'll be quite :p

well... actually, I wont shutup yet - I wonder if we can order parts from Toyota - say for the parts between the nav unit dvd drive and the mfd.
Is this how the thing works:
dvd unit -> nav computer -> gvif output -> mfd
(Extreme simplification but just to get the discussion juices flowing) - anyone ever take their nav unit apart? I assume the whole unit is integrated on one circuit board.
It would be cool if the nav computer were doing some standard dvi or vga output, and the gvif was some sort of intermediary.

nice little bump to the thread anyway...

Hi all. Dominic says he has the new ones and they work. Frankly I don't even care about the 2 pixel problem on the right of the screen if it works otherwise.

But it's not clear we ever concluded the workability of this solution. Also I need to figure out how to get touchscreen input out of the screen and into the canview or maybe a pc.

    Any thoughts on these things?

    Curt

I wouldnt mind talking to the guy who made the apple computer in his 2005, i would think the same coding can be done for the inputs of the screen. Another option I had thought of was using java instead of perl, but that would take some time to develop as my limitations are like java 3, but i work with a master of java, i can ask him what is possible. But i am sure about one thing a connection between the touchscreens' pixel location and the computer

Intriguing. Actually they do have a PDF with fairly detailed specs.

    http://www.qdis.co.kr/data/ftp/rgb%20he.PDF

This looks like a good possibility, I think we should contact them. The remaining problem would be getting touchscreen output back out to PC or CanView. After reviewing previous options as well, this seems like our main problem at this point

Ok, dumb question... When the display is up, has anyone hooked up an AVC lan sniffer? On the '05 prius, touchscreen activity generates a whole bunch of activity targeting the device at 0x280. The payload format is pretty well understood on PC too. If not, you can always hit corners and move slightly from that in orthogonal points to determine which bytes hold x/y values.

So, for input, it might not be difficult, just not off the shelf. What's nice about it is that there's a substantial amount of open source code to talk on that bus.. :)

In any case, the AVC-LAN input is bunches easier than trying to deal with GHz level data..

Unfortunately no response yet from our korean friends making the new product.

If we could get a sniffer on the 05+ models we could see what the format is. I'm happy to run some tests on my 07 but don't have a device to do so. If it's the same as 04-, then Norm @ Canview could probably support it. If it's not, then we could write PC drivers for PC users, and maybe either write a converter to 04- format for the canview or see with Norm if it would be possible to alter the canview to accept this input.
