I just participated in an EV event in rural Minnesota, where I was outside & smiling with a lot of people very interested in my plug-in vehicle and e-bike.

We need to do the opposite of rest, do everything we can to educate by sharing our experiences with others.

The biggest seller is driving one. The 3 day test drive is a great concept. EV adoption is a big curve. Bridging the gap for people helps. Same with solar panels on your home.

I agree that almost all of the "green" stuff is a scam. Let me explain...

I'm old enough to remember the many, many, many "global catastrophe" warnings and predictions...from global cooling (new ice age) to global droughts to everybody being fried from the shrinking ozone to the earth getting cooked by dust mankind puts up in the air to the dreaded "acid rain" hysteria to "super" hurricanes....there doesn't seem to be an end to the monthly "warnings" and "existential threats" that come out, often by non-scientists like Al Gore and Greta Thunberg.

So carbon dioxide is a toxic substance? Says who? How did they come up with that? (Do a bit of research and you'll discover it's been around forever and is a vital substance for life as we know it.)

What really chaps my hide is how they'll have "global climate meetings" and many go there in their private jets! Really?? That's like showing up to health food seminar with a big back of Taco Bell....total hypocrites!! (If you're going to talk the talk then walk the walk or shut the heck up!) I don't even think Greta graduated High School, much less has any college education on global weather science!

So they want everyone to adhere to their restrictions and "save the planet" stuff BUT we don't hear them calling on the largest polluters on the planet, China, to do anything about their many, many huge coal burning plants. (I think I've heard China spews up 3 times as much pollution as the US...but WE need to get our vehicles to 100 mpg.....spare me!!)

Um, acid rain and the ozone hole aren't catastrophes because we took action to correct them. Cleaner emissions regs cleaned the air, thus reducing the available acids to come out in rain. The world banned an entire class of chemicals to save the ozone layer.

Global cooling was misreporting of potential regional outcomes of global warming. The UK is at the same latitude as Alaska, but has a pleasant climate because Atlantic currents bring warm water up from the equator. Those currents slow or stop, the UK gets colder. Oh look, that's happening, Mystery behind cold blob in the Atlantic Ocean finally solved | Live Science.

CO2 is a known IR absorber. It holds heat better than nitrogen. People were voicing concerns over releasing it into the atmosphere from burning coal in the late 1800s. The planet should be going into an ice age at this time but, well, it isn't. Sure, CO2 has always been in the air and used by plants, but the last time the concentration increased this fast was from Poland sized erupting lava fields. Then came the deadliest extinction in the planet's history.

Per person, the US emits more than China. Who already has aggressive EV policies. But we really should be going after industry and businesses, not individuals, to reduce CO2 emissions.

The world's biggest user of hydrocarbons is the US military.

If you're using the rationale that it's smarter to go after 'industry and business' because they consume more resources and produce more pollution than individuals, why not go straight to the top?

Sure. I do think the military is, or was, working on alternative fuels.

The going after big contributors is because of scale of impact. They could also bring solutions to bear that individuals can't.
