my rear shocks seems to be in bad condition and starts affecting the handling of the car.

Mine is a 2012, and seems like the springs and shocks were replaced in late 2013 to different part numbers. Most other assembly doesn't seem to have this discrepancy, so I'm wondering if the compatibility is based on the fact that the springs and shocks are matched due to length or similar?

If I'm replacing both, should I go for the newer parts?

    Coil springs
    Older 48231-47180
    Newer 48231-12A61

Shocks (there's actually two variants, 48530-80696 seems to be listed for both periods?)
    Older 48530-80696, 48530-80637
    Newer 48530-80699, 48530-80696

I have a hard time believing that the difference in the coils can be that big so they won't fit? Anybody made this replacement or know of the actual differences?

I'm also open to 3rd party options, but there seems to be few options on the springs for some reason (I guess they are stiffer than normal gen3 springs which are abundant)
