Context: 2010 Prius / USA Goal 1: select a mount for an iPhone 16e. Magnetic would easy to mount / dismount. Looking for comments to steer me away from poor choices and towards any good choices. All things being even, Amazon / eBay is preferred. f Goal 2: select a mount for iPad Pro Generation 3, 11-inch. If you have any lessons learned / photos / recommendations, these are appreciated (so long as they are OK with moderators). Not sure what features should be prioritized: experience from the community is appreciate. Thanks
I Would like to know too, I have like 20 different cup holder style mounts and a couple cop style mounts (screws to the base of the passenger seat) in my amazon shopping cart, they all look like they will break the second I drive over a bump from their plastic joints and materials holding an IPad 6 that has a 2 pound metal case and keyboard on it. Here a link for a simple example of each style: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CXJ44NVV/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A2Q6IZ0M3ZC9OG&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017AHJBBE/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A1Q5TXAPOS7WLS&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Adjustable-Articulation-Adjustment-MOUNT-CAR01
For a phone, I have a generic suction cup mount mounted on the left plastic wall where the passenger sits. Works great, been there since we bought the car. For anything bigger that's a tough one to figure out for sure.
I clipped a holder onto one of the central vent fins. Not optimum (is anything), but it's working. If I want to eject a CD I need to push up on it slightly. It'd be nice if Toyota would recognize people want to do this, provide a strong point for phone mounts, say a small panel on the dash that can be replaced with a clip point. Without breaking the bank. Anyway, my setup:
Interesting idea from Mr. Leisk. I wonder how much trouble it would be to 3D-print or bolster the vents somehow to strengthen the vent mounting point. Ideally, any lessons learned or landmines to avoid are appreciated. In the absence of such guidance: If possible (and it is OK with the moderators), please provide links to any photographed mounts?
