I absolutely love how my new car in Reservoir Blue! To preserve its appearance I will be doing a full PPF followed by a full ceramic coating. It is $5200. I think I may have gotten carried away.

Has anyone else done something so extravagant to the Prius PHEV?

Note: The picture I posted is before the PPF treatment.

PPF is a plastic film? And then wax over that?

I’ve heard those films are a bear to get off, down the road.

$5200 USD is about what we paid for our first, new car, in ‘81 lol.

Hi! I posted my own PPF thing in another thread under "Paint Protection? PPF or Wrap?"

I went overboard as well and color PPF my whole 2025 Prius Plugin XSE in Royal Green Tpu #2034. Sooo happy! LoL also had it ceramic coated too. Paid extra for the color and some but it was "only" a little more than your price. Account for maybe different locations as well. You can find more pics at the other thread but if its not enough, I do plan to take a few more aoon so let me know if theres an angle you want. Its been awhile since I have used the forums lol so kinda forgot how to reference other posts or pics. 20250626_113056(1).jpg

That green looks amazing! A green like that is a close 2nd behind blue for car colors I've always wanted.

See below. Yeah, i was looking at this nice blue and a red that was similair to my old 2013 black cherry red. But opted for a completely different color. Wish i took a picture of the other two. Anyways, hope this reference helps. Oh and it is the PPF film I selected; the shiny black trim you see was oem done with clear PPF.

Very nice color! That is my wife’s favorite color. Blue is mine. (Obviously)

It’s going to be hard next week when I don’t get to drive my new car at all while it is getting its film on. When you got yours back did you have to keep it out of the sun or rain for a few days. Or, was it ready to go anywhere as soon as you got it?

We keep our cars for a long time and decided to PPF wrap our 2024 Prius LTD. It's not a full wrap but pretty close: half hood, front bumper & spoiler, front & rear quarters, doors & mirrors/handles/cups, rear hatch and bumper. Total was $4K using a mobile installer we've used for our other cars' wraps and tint. Here are some pics of the PPF installation.

I don't think I'd splurge for a full PPF wrap, but I definitely wish I'd gotten the hood, front bumper, front fenders, and mirror caps done(I had mine painted to match the body). Toyota used a white or extremely light gray primer and chips are very easy to see on my red paint.

Why would want to get it off? They are designed to be on the car for 10+ years. The people who are doing mine sent me a video of it being taken off in an area where there was some damage (but the damage was only to the PPF later). It showed them getting it off with some very hot water.

Had it done this way in the past so I believe in the stuff (bonnet lip, front bumper, and the top of rear bumper (where i placed things while I lift the hatch). It was more than enough although I had wished I did at least half the doors since that is where the supermarket cart demons liked to hit my car. Self aware AI cart demons for the dings and dents... maybe holy water ceramic coating would be better? Well either way, glad to hear you got some!
I wanted a color change or else would of gone this more cost effective method as well. More than enough against gravel trucks dump trunks, garbage trucks, and parking lot cartk demons. Gogo PPF. But to everyone considering this, do make sure its a good or reputable company as I have seen some pretty poorly placed film before and it can be glaringly ugly and obvious.
Personally experienced, I had it applied on my Dad's Lexus and they did tints too... The tint peeled, The PPF was poor quality; it yellowed then look crooked from the slightly angled install, which in our noob fashion ok'd, and it made the car looked like it had a bad paint job over time. So yeah... please dont skimp and make sure its applied properly. Dont okay it just because you dont want the hassle... Best wishes for everyone considering PPF. And remember, beware of lonely shopping carts!!! They seems to love new cars or new paint jobs!!! Ding, dent, darn!!!

I did PPF on the entire front of the car. Ceramic coating and tint on all the glass.
$2500 for cash at a reputable shop.

Dig the green wrap. Didn't know they last 10 yrs, that's awesome

    Yeah, great color :)
Please keep in mind I did a full body color change PPF so I was concerned about removal of the film. The PPF can last a good long time with care and maintenance. Sounds like you did Clear PPF over the most critical areas so peeling it off may not even be a consideration. But if health of your protective film is a priority, consider anti UV wax or ceramic coating the film. My clear PPF on my 2017 prius that was over the front lip of hood, half the doors, front bumper, and the top of the rear bumper where inplaced things while opening hatch lasted until I sold the car (8yrs) with very little car and maintenance, it was only slightly yellow. I did use brushless car washes with whatever wax they used.

For others who come across this post.
How long it lasts, under what conditions, ease of removal recommendations? I suppose I should really post the questions I asked my shop which they answered quite directly. They used today's prices and the estimate they gave my car as reference and gave rough estimates 8 years down the road, no guarantees of course but it showed patience, thoughtfulness, and value so I could compare just doing a minimum PPF or the full body color change PPF, or just a plain wrap. The removal should be one of the top three important questions to ask since you probably want to divide up the price over the years to average the cost. Otherwise you might as well paint the car! I did a full body color ppf wrap and not everyone might like the color if I decide to sell the car. LoL although I have already been made unsolicited offers to buy my car because of the color and that its a wrap makes it easy to go back to oem color. LoL to easy...

If I were spending that much (not that I would), I would at least change to a cool color like the other poster did with that emerald green, which looks like the nice Gen 1 deep green. LOL

I picked my car up yesterday. It sure looks nice! Wow, that is a lot of money, though! I’m feeling guilty for having so much money. I’m not sure I can justify it.

One thing I didn’t like is that they didn’t have a cutout for the trim for the trim level (‘XSE’) and ‘PHEV’ letterings. There apparently wasn’t a cutout for them in their model. They just had to use double stick tape to secure it over the PPF material. I sure hope they don’t fall off!

I absolutely love my ‘reservoir blue’ color (his green does look pretty sharp, too). Now my car is extra shiny.

I’ve never told my wife the price. I think I may keep that a secret. She said she thought it was a good idea when I told her about protecting the paint but I don’t think she has any idea about how much it costs.

FWIW, I bought a small roll of 3M PPF from Amazon to affix my HOV-lane bumper decals so that the paint doesn’t get damaged if I want to remove them. I also use it to attach things to walls at home for the same reason.

Yes, the 12 days i waited sucked :) Shop told me drive, park, etc like regular and normal. Further, curing was complete on pickup. I am to take it back next week to checkup for any additional fixes that maybe needed. I was told this is due to possible issues caused by the liquid used while applying the film similair to certain cellphone screen protectors. Bubbles may develop over time in the sun etc. Explained as why I should just use the car normally so after two weeks any problems that would crop up should and they can fix it immediately. Ask! I specifically asked my shop the question you asked: Is it cured on pickup?
